History
- Legley finished this quartet on 12 June[2] 1944 in Brussels.
- In 1946, the work was first performed at Flagey in Brussels.[3]
- In 1974, violist Alfons Volleman, an former colleague of Legley's in the NIR orchestra, made a transcription for 4 violas.[4]
