History
- Legley worked on this symphony from December 1963 to April 1964 in Woluwe and La Gaude.
- The work was commissioned by the Rijksuniversiteit Gent (Ghent University) for the Festival van Vlaanderen 1964.
- First performance on 29 August 1964 in the Royal Opera in Ghent by the National Orchestra of Belgium conducted by André Cluytens.[1]
