History
Version 1
- Legley composed this work in 1954 at the request of Les Amis Belges de l’Aliah des jeunes.[1] It was part of a joint composition (Les Bals de Paris). In 1959 Legley made a revision of the work.[1][2]
- The first performance was played on 17 November 1954 in La Monnaie in Brussels by the La Monnaie symphony orchestra conducted by René Defossez. Jean-Jacques Etchevery was the director of the ballet, Edmond Delescluze designed the scenery and Suzanne Fabry the costumes.[3]
Version 2
- In 1984, Legley made a transcription for concert band.[1]
- The first performance of this version took place on 16 July 1985 in Kerkrade and was played by the Royal Band of the Belgian Guides conducted by Norbert Nozy.[1]
