- In 1952, Legley was awarded the Prize for composition of Brabant for this work.[1]
- On 8 November 1952, the sonata was first performed by Pierre De Leye and Frieda Pey at the palais provincial of Brabant.[2]

The so-called palais provincial was probably located in Brussels, the province of Brabant was however split into Flemish Brabant and Walloon Brabant in 1995 (Brussels is since then no longer part of a province, but became an independent region).
