- Voltooid op 18 april 1970.
- Dit werk werd geïnspireerd door een schilderij van Maxime Van de Woestyne. Legley schrijft hierover in zijn autograaf: Le titre "Espaces" n'a pas de signification concrète sauf pour le peintre belge Maxime Van de Woestyne et moi. "Espaces" est le titre d'un tableau de Van de Woestyne. Ce titre, nous l'avons trouvé ensemble devant ce tableau, qui m'est précieux parce qu'il me permet de rêver. Il ne s'agit pourtant pas d'une musique descriptive. Disons tout au plus que j'ai été attiré par certaines idées, traduites par le peintre dans son oeuvre; je me fais l'illusion que certaines passages de ma musique s'y reflètent.
