History
- Legley composed this work on commission for the Festival van Vlaanderen [Festival of Flanders] and he completed it on 15 March 1963 in Le Rouret.
- The Parrenin Quartet performed the quartet for the first time on 4 September 1963 at the Gravensteen in Ghent during a concert at the Festival van Vlaanderen - Gent.[1]
