*[[Tessely/en|Tessely]] (p.36): ''In 1954, the Maastricht City Orchestra commissioned Victor Legley to compose &amp;quot;Carnival in Maastricht&amp;quot; with Jan Mul and Malti Niël. In Legley's &amp;quot;Small carnival overture&amp;quot; there are two episodes: the firing of the canon and the hanging of the Mooswief.''&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;Jef Somers (see below) describes the piece as follows: ''Of the contribution by Victor Legley from Brussels, the spontaneity and the musicianship at this first audition have not yet fully penetrated our minds; the piece depicts the beginning of the Carnival celebrations Sunday morning after High Mass and one can hear the cannon being fired and one sees the hanging of the Mooswief''.&amp;lt;br/&amp;gt;See also:&lt;br /&gt;
